About the awards

The Distinguished Engineer and Scientist Awards are our highest honor and are reserved for individuals whose achievements are of national or international significance and can range from pioneering research or technology to leadership in national or internation professional organizations.

The Young Engineer and Scientist Awards are reserved for those who are 35 years old are younger at the time of their nomination.  The awards recognize those developing professionals who have made significant impact in their profession or the local engineering or scientific community.

The Professional Accomplishment and Community Service Awards are intended to recognize local engineering and scientific professionals in several areas.  The Academic Awards are to be awarded to individuals in the academic field.  The Industry or Consulting Awards are awarded to engineers and scientists in industry or consulting fields.  The Government Awards are to be awarded to an engineer or scientist that is an appointee in government, elected official in government, or civil service employee in government.  The Construction Awards are awarded to engineers in the construction field.  As the award names imply, Professional Accomplishment Awards are used to recognize contributions to the profession while Community Service Awards are used to recognize contributions to the communities in which we practice.
